I research the potential of using new digital technologies in formal and informal education, with a focus on virtual, augmented, and mixed reality technologies. I develop and evaluate next-generation educational formats and tools for use in school lessons, university seminars, and practical courses, as well as for enhancing educational offerings for museum visitors.

Our company's focus is on open sensor systems, geospatial software and geographic information systems (GIS) for the education market in the context of Citizen Science, digital education and smart cities. In addition to agile hardware and software development, the company is engaged in the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) and the implementation of workshops for children, youth, teachers and citizens. Our mission statement is thus shaped by Open Science and Open Innovation approaches. This is reflected in the development of open source hardware as well as the goal of collecting open data according to crowdsourcing principles. These work processes are framed by a participatory model of learning and research in order to contribute to fact-based knowledge gain and to make a contribution to future-oriented education with its own technologies.
