I am a social demographer (Ph.D.), committed to research work that features a balance between theory building and empirical research to develop more refined social theories and to gather relevant evidence for the formulation of evidence-based policies.I am currently appointed as an Associate Professor (Professor Agregat) at the Department of Sociology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and as a researcher at the Centre for Demographic Studies, where I act as a head of the Generations and Life Course research group.I have received an ICREA Acadèmia award that grants me the support to have a research intensification period of 5 years (2023-2027). I am the (co-)chair of the IUSSP Scientific Panel on Lifetime Migration of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (2023-2025). I am also a Life Course Centre affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course, and a BiB fellow of the German Federal Institute for Population Research.I have substantive expertise in several fields of demographic research –particularly family dynamics and spatial mobility– and social inequality research. My research adopts life course and cross-national approaches, and uses state-of-the-art quantitative methods for the analysis of longitudinal data.I am an ERC Grant holder, currently leading the LIFELONGMOVE project funded by the European Research Council (Consolidator Grant, 2023-2027). I have also received funding from the German Research Council (Sachbeihilfe, 2015–2017) and the Spanish Government (Ramon y Cajal grant, 2017-2022; I+D+i Retos de la Investigación, 2019-2021; I+D+i Generación del Conocimiento, 2022-2025), among others, to support my research.
