About Sergi Bravo

🎯 I’m a scientist investigating the mechanism of action of molecules that bind to GPCR targets using cell-based assays and computational methods. This knowledge allows the rationally design of new drugs with improved effects. Outside the lab, I am passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of therapeutics. 🔬 My scientific expertise lies in:- Pharmacological data analysis: Kinetics of drug action; concentration-response curves.- Biostatistics: Experimental design; hypothesis testing; data interpretation.- Setting up cell-based assays: Functional activity; protein-protein interaction; protein quantification; intracellular messenger measurements.👥 Other skills include:- Leading small teams (3-5 people): MSc students, technical assistants, and external collaborators.- Scientific communication: Oral and poster presentations at international and national conferences.- Scientific writing: Published in high-impact journals (i.e. Nature and Cell) and grant writing.- Mentoring and teaching: MSc students in the Drug Research program (English) and 3rd-year Pharmacy students (German).💡 Innovation and collaboration:- Selected as one of 100 participants in The Excellerator, a leadership program culminating in a forum at the University of Cambridge with leaders in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to tackle challenges and learn from their experiences.- Joined Nucleate (https://www.nucleate.xyz/) , a student-led organization bridging the gap between academia and industry, to help grow the Spain chapter.- Invited to join Nova, a by-invitation-only network of driven students and professionals who support each other to accomplish their missions.📖 Transforming scientific breakthroughs into approved therapies has been a cornerstone in my career. After obtaining my BSc in Biochemistry, I was dissatisfied with the gap between basic science and practical therapeutic interventions. Hence, I decided to pursue an MSc in Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry to learn more about the path a drug candidate takes from being discovered to being approved for market commercialization. During this period, I moved from Spain to Germany to study GPCRs (G protein-coupled receptors), the main target of FDA-approved drugs. I’m currently based in Bonn (Germany), where I continue my research on GPCRs as a PhD candidate in Pharmacology.📩 Feel free to connect on LinkedIn or reach out at sergi.bravo.br@gmail.com
