I have been administrating several Oracle databases of the data centre of Palermo Municipality. The databases (9i, 10g and 11g) are installed on Red Hat Linux Advanced Server, Oracle Enterprise Linux e MS Windows Server 2003/2008 platforms. My main tasks are: solving Oracle databases errors and warnings, checking the logs and the suggestions generated by the advisors to prevent failures, tuning and optimizing the databases. Also, I have been working on the development of applications with Oracle APEX to extend the features of legacy software and to manage company systems. The applications that extend the features of the existent software are :• an application to monitor the batches performed by the users of the software that manage the budget of the Municipality of Palermo;• an application to check information (IP address, office and department, application authorizations) of the users calling the helpdesk service provided by my company;• an application to manage the property tax on house for the citizens of the City of Palermo;• an application to manage people’s migration flows to/from other municipalities. The applications that manage the company systems are :• an application to perform analyses on the response time extracted from the Apache HTTP Server logs;• an application to show the information in the Oracle databases and the free space in the tablespaces;• an application to track the daily checks on the Oracle databases and the potential actions to solve the problems;• an application to track every access on the Oracle databases.

I developed different J2EE web applications, for the Municipality of Palermo, based on IBM WebSphere 6.1 and Oracle Database 10gR2 platform with Eclipse using Java and JavaScript technologies.

I collaborated to the implementation of the data warehouse and business intelligence system for the town council. The web architecture has, in the front-end, different reports for data analysis and reporting, developed with Oracle Application Express or Oracle Discoverer, in the middle tier the Oracle Application Server 10g and in the database tier the Oracle Database 10gR2. I designed and implemented the platform, by choosing the architecture, the tools and the useful technologies. I installed and configured the database, the application server and the ETL engine, and the reporting and analysis tools. I designed and developed the scheduled ETL jobs to extract data from sources with Oracle Warehouse Builder 10gR2 and I designed and developed the OLAP model used by Oracle Discoverer Plus 10g for data analysis using Oracle Analytic Workspace Manager. Also, I checked the reports developed by 8 programmers with Oracle Application Express 2.1.

I participated to the implementation of the management system of the Italian national revenues (SIE). The J2EE application was based on IBM Web Sphere v5.1 and on Oracle Database 10gR2. My task consisted in designing and implementing the physical data model from the business requirement and the logical data model, and in writing the technical analysis for 4 programmers.

I suggested architectures for distributed systems with high availability, security and scalability features, using Oracle technologies. My main activity was helping the sales agents to show the Oracle technology through live demos or video conference. The topics of the demos were different, the installation, configuration and administration of Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server (with the aim of using middleware services for authentication and authorization based on LDAP directory), the development of portals and web application three-tiers, the implementation of business intelligence and data integration solutions using Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle HTML DB (APEX) and Oracle Warehouse Builder.
