Award winning wildlife and conservation photographer and journalist Sergio Pitamitz has French and Italian double citizenship. He is a National Geographic Image Collection contract photographer. On assignments he has traveled in more than 100 countries in all the seven continents, from Americas to Australia, from Arctic to Antarctica, from Africa to Asia and Middle East. He is a contributor of the Italian edition of National Geographic Magazine and his images and stories has appeared in hundreds of publications including BBC Wildlife, Terre Sauvage, Oasis, Africa Geographic, Geo, The New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Figaro Magazine, Condé Nast Traveller, National Geographic website, National Geographic Magazine Japan, as well as other National Geographic publications. His first book, Wild Africa - with a conservation foreword by acclaimed National Geographic photojournalist Steve Winter and introduction by worldwide famous fashion photographer Giovanni Gastel - has been launched in 2016 at the International Nature Photography Festival of Montier-en-Der in France. He works as conservation photographer for ARCA -Animal Research Conservation in Action, an NGO dedicated to several in-situ conservation projects worldwide. He actively raise funds for the National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative through lectures and with the traveling exhibition Wild Africa that showcases a selection of the best images of the book. He has received recognitions in many international photography contests such as Nature’s Best, National Wildlife, Oasis and Audubon. He won the NPPA - National Press Photography Association “Best of Photojournalism 2016 - Environmental Category”.He is a Swarovski Optik Nature Ambassador and Panthera Partner Photographer.His photography is represented by National Geographic Image Collection. When he is not on assignment, Sergio leads photo tours in the Polar regions, in Africa and in the habitats of the big cats.
