Born in Milano in 1965, since the early 1990s I have written and photographed hundreds of stories for most of the world's leading magazines, focusing on social issues and conflict zones. In 2007, I co-founded communication agency Parallelozero, where I'm currently Head of Content (www.parallelozero.com). In this position I supervised the production of communication strategies and content for clients such as Enel Group, Leonardo Aerospace, Generali, Open Fiber, Telespazio, Autostrade per l'Italia.I taught photojournalism, creative writing and crisis communication in a number of Italian and European institutes, including Milano's IULM University, Lugano's Federal University and Ancona's Poliarte Academy, where I'm currently an adjunct professor.As a novelist, I published 9 novels, essays and instant books, as well as 4 photographic volumes (see full list below). In 2010 and 2011 I was author and co-host of "Buongiorno Afghanistan", an eight-episode documentary on the Italian Army in Afghanistan, and "SOS Lampedusa", a 50-minutes documentary on immigration, both produced and broadcast by Sky TV Italy. In 2016 I wrote and directed the 50-minutes documentary "Baraccopolis", on Italians living in slums, produced by Parallelozero and broadcast by Sky Atlantic.I was one of the eight Italian photographers featured in the documentary series "Fotografi" on photojournalists, produced and broadcast in 2012-2013 by TV channel Sky Arte. In 2022 I wrote and co-hosted the podcast "Ti scorderai di me", produced by Audio Tales.I won the International Photography Award (Los Angeles) in the 'Editorial' category in 2005, and twice (in 2005 and 2010) the Enzo Baldoni Prize for Journalism of the Province of Milano. In 2020, my book "Su questa pietra" was awarded the Presìdi del Libro - Alessandro Leogrande literary prize for narrative journalism. In 2022 I was Photojournalist of the Year at the LEICA Fotografie International/BarTur Photo Award.
