About Sergio Verdugo

I am a professor of law at the IE University Law School (Spain), an editor of the International Journal of Constitutional Law (ICON), the Co-President and former Secretary-General of the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S), and a visiting scholar at the Universidad del Desarrollo Law School (Chile), where I teach at UDD's doctoral program. I specialize in Comparative Constitutional Law and Human Rights. I hold a JSD from New York University (2019), a master's from UC Berkeley (2011), a master's from P. As a Secretary-General, I supervise most ICON-S-related activities (such as conferences, workshops, local chapters, etc.) and develop new initiatives. I report directly to the co-presidents (Marta Cartabia and Richard Albert) and ICON-S's executive committee, composed of scholars such as Ran Hirschl, Sabino Cassese, Rosalind Dixon, and Joseph Weiler.

    I am the co-editor-in-chief (along with Prof. Marcela Prieto, from the University of Southern California) of ICON's Spanish issues. We publish one Spanish issue per year. As an editor, I read all the submissions we receive, participate in the review process of the articles, select peer reviewers, communicate with the authors, review the revised manuscripts, and supervise the proofreading and production stages of the Spanish issue. I also organize symposia. ICON belongs to the NYU School of Law, and it has a publishing agreement with Oxford University Press.

I also collaborated with the organization and editorial processes of symposia.
