Mr. Del Rio is the architect of Cornerstone which is a large and complex database and software development project for Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc., in Rockville, Maryland. The developed system involves the analysis, design and implementation of:• A highly scalable database schema, deployed in a multi-node Oracle Real Application Cluster database engine running on an IBM SP Complex.• A high-volume server-side replication, consolidating data between Oracle Real Application Cluster databases for redundancy and high availability.• An application-tier interface developed in Enterprise Java (J2EE) and supporting thousands of concurrent complex ad-hoc queries delivering a data in the Real Estate Transaction Standard (RETS) format.

Mr. Del Rio’s main focus at Interealty.com has been Enterprise Architecture. This included designing a new 3-Tier architecture that the existing Client/Server architecture would be moved to. This project was undertaken to allow the company to leverage it’s existing hardware investment by creating a system which was highly scalable, available and maintainable. He was also involved in the building of he prototype for this project. The prototype is now complete and has tested to be extremely scalable and maintainable. It was written in Java and follows the J2EE standards. It has proven to run on Oracle Application Server and Weblogic Application Server with no software changes.His other major task was the implementation of Oracle 8 Advanced Replication between two 8 Node IBM SP Complexes running Oracle Parallel Server. This project was undertaken to give their systems to 99.99% availability.

Mr. Del Rio’s main focus at Oracle has been Database Administration and System Performance Tuning. He has spent the majority of his time at a large customer GTE Enterprise Solutions Inc. (formerly MPR Teltech Ltd.) At GTE Enterprise Solutions:Mr. Del Rio was a lead member of project “Deep Purple”. This project involved the migration of a large system from multiple IBM RS/6000 machines to a single IBM SP complex. The old environ-ment consisted of a main machine using simple snapshots to replicate data to sixteen other IBM RS/6000 machines that are used for a Decision Support System (DSS). The new system is now running Oracle Parallel Server on an IBM 8 node SP complex, using eight high nodes that carry eight CPUs, each connected over a high speed switch.When completed, this online DSS system was running 1,700 concurrent users.
