I work as associate professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences of the Universidad Nacional (UNA), Costa Rica. I´m member of the National Advisory Committee of the Global Compact of Majors on Climate and Energy, co-founder of the Costa Rican network of local governments on climate change, and board member of the Mesoamerican and Carribean Society of Ecological Economics. I'm also the Chief Editor of the Tropical Journal of Environmental Sciences (Revista de Ciencias Ambientales), and also of Ambientico Magazine. I have received several recognitions, among them outstands the 2007 Best Doctoral Dissertation Award of the Organizations and the Natural Environment Division of the Academy of Management, and recipient of the 2014 MIT´s Climate CoLab award on Adaption to Climate Change.[OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE]: I worked as Boston University Adjunct Lecturer in Environmental Economics and Policy at The School for Field Studies-Center for Sustainable Development in Costa Rica. Previously I worked as consultant for 3M™ in the area of sustainability and environmental initiatives, and as researcher and lecturer at the University of Minnesota. [EDUCATION]: In 1999 I graduated as a forest management engineer from the National University of Costa Rica and earned the Master of Science and Doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota, the latter in Natural Resource Management with emphasis in economics and environmental strategy. [PUBLISHING RECORD]: I have published in scientific journals including: “Ecosystems Services”, “Business & Professional Ethics Journal”, “International Journal of Development and Sustainability”, “Journal of Forest Products Business Research”, “International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment”, “Forest Products Journal”, “Latin American Journal of Economic Development, in addition to other books and magazines contributions, and have presented my work in multiple national and international conferences, and to visiting foreign students and researchers.
