In 2007, Sergio founded Strictly Tango NYC in the heart of Manhattan. Since then his school has been spreading tango throughout New York City and beyond. More than 20,000 people have taken their first tango steps at his school. In 2010, the school started organizing tango events at various parks in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn giving people their first experience of the culture of the dance and the music. Strictly Tango NYC is known for its warm and welcoming environment, great community, and the quality of its teaching method.In 2015 Strictly Tango NYC teamed up with NYC Parks and Recreation to co-host and produce tango events every year offered in all 5 boroughs free to the general public as part of their summer events in the parks program. Strictly Tango NYC has produced more than 70 events since this relationship started, touching thousands of New Yorkers.In 2017 Strictly Tango NYC debuted its latest project that consists of giving team bonding and leadership training workshops in a corporate environment. The goal of these seminars is to help more junior corporate employees take their first steps of leadership, and for more senior employees to understand how important communication tailored to the people they are leading can be to the success of an organization. All of these lessons are taught through a bonding and educational experience that is enjoyable and unique. Strictly Tango NYC's mission is to empower others to realize their potential to become great leaders.

He is the founder and director of Strictly Tango NYC and is an accomplished tango show producer, teacher, and choreographer. In 2003, he founded Sergio Segura Tango Productions. In 2011 he produced two major sold-out events: “Amor y Tango” at the Highline Ballroom, NYC, and “Tango in the Castle” at Morningside Castle, NYC. He co-created the multimedia productions “Soles Ablaze” (Houston 2004), “The Anthropology of Tango Dance” (2006) and “Epocas de Tango” (2010) which were presented with great success at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas and at the Yonkers Public Library. Sergio is a trailblazer and in 2010, he successfully produced the “1st NYC Queer Tango Festival” in New York City. It was a major event in the city that was prominently featured in the New York Times as well as the magazine "Revista VIVA" in Argentina. Sergio has been producing free events at the NYC Parks since 2007. In 2015, he teamed up with NYC Parks and Recreation to co-sponsor and produce events throughout New York City in all 5 boroughs for the general public as part of their summer events in the parks program. Sergio has also produced five tango instructional DVDs, which are sold all over the world.In 2005, Sergio created the “Learn Argentine Tango System.” He wanted to find an “easy approach” to the fundamentals of traditional tango in the same way that most of the socials dances are being taught in NYC. He conducted his own research on the teaching methods of salsa, hustle, swing, flamenco, ballet, modern dance and jazz amongst others. Using this research he created an efficient method to understanding, enjoying and learning tango.
