I am an entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience building and managing a networking and telecommunications integrator/contractor. I have planned, designed, built and operated complex technology projects covering large geographical and difficult-to-access areas. As CEO and lead engineer of Datacom, a company that I founded after concluding my MBA from INCAE Business School (graduated with honors), I have been involved in communications networks (voice, video and data) for enterprises and service providers in Central America, particularly in Honduras. My career has closely and (mostly) successfully followed the path of technological, legal and economic evolution in the region. My company launched as a satellite communications contractor for global telecom providers, and we became specialists in the field, doing business in every country in the region. Under my leadership, and as the market logic shifted, we transitioned to new technologies and business models: from satellite to terrestrial radio, IP networks and fiber equipment, and from installation contractor to full service integrator to network operator. As far as specifics go, on the technical side I have more than 15 years of experience in IP telephony and IP contact centers and I built and operated the first IP-based telephony service provider in Central America, several years before those services appeared in other countries. I also pioneered the development of video kiosks for customer service in the country, developing and installing the first one for a leading financial institution, improving client ́s tech, service and profitability strategies. My deep knowledge and experience in satellite and terrestrial radio networks is still highly relevant. In recent years, my company installed satellite internet services in more than 1600 schools throughout the country, a project executed in a period of 4 and a half months with great success. This was a logistically complicated process that required coordinating more than 100 engineers and technicians in the field, in a large geographic area, with difficult local conditions and under high time pressure. On the business side, I was able to build a company from scratch, with very little resources, and to achieve success for more than 20 years. I had to manage everything from engineering to finance to human resources. My management style is hands-off, meaning I prefer to work with highly skilled and trustworthy people. I am heavy on the technical side; I like to be involved in technical issues and often offer creative solutions.
