I am currently a student at the University of North Texas. I am gearing towards a Bachelor of Science in Ecology for Environmental Science. I have been a member of the Honors college since my enrollment at UNT. The Honors College offers additional advanced courses that educate on researching skills. I am seeking to work with animal ecology, relative to conservation, after graduation. I look forward to internships and other opportunities to gain experience, furthering my readiness to provide back to the environment.My courses at UNT have offered me a hands-on experience, whether that be working in a laboratory or out on the field. In Ecology laboratory, I have learned how to perform evaluations of environments and how to collect data for each observation. I’ve been determined to do my best and this is shown by achieving the Dean’s List twice so far and currently holding a 3.6 GPA. Previously, I had graduated as Valedictorian in 2021 from Seagoville High School. Despite the transition to online, I had a final GPA of 4.2 at the end of my senior year. Before Texas was put under lockdown measures, I had volunteered at the SPCA of Texas for 83 hours. Here I offered my time between maintaining animal habitats, socializing intake pets, and training new volunteers. This experience helped me build powerful task management skills and generate a team mindset to achieve even more. This fulfilled my adoration for animals as I was able to work towards providing them a bright outlook. This experience has offered understanding of the hard effort expected of me when engaging in similar missions.Outside of academics, I spend my time building a relationship with the environment around me. Life on a ranch with family and working with livestock has brought me to understand the complexities of nature and how we cultivate it. I work to continue learning how to conserve the beautiful world we have and through that I aspire to participate in the conservation of terrestrial organisms native to North America.
