Mechanical Engineering | Tooling Engineer II, Haas AutomationI’m currently a Tooling Engineer working to better understand and expand my knowledge of CNC machining and the tools used throughout the industry. At Haas, we wear many hats when it comes to our day-to-day. Essentially, the position embodies and emphasizes the engineering design process. We identify a problem, research in depth, evaluate and select a promising solution, prototype, test, and finally release the final product. I personally enjoy projects that push me to learn new topics, and allow me to come up with a creative solution. My previous professional experience occurred when I interned at EDM Services and was a contractor for SoCalGas. While here I learned how to interpret civil engineering drawings, create and understand GPAT’s, utilize GIS software, conduct field inspections, and perform data mining. Prior to starting my career, I attended California State University, Northridge where I studied Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Automotive Engineering. I enjoyed many of the courses, but the best experience I had was when I joined the Formula SAE Senior Design. This course allowed me to use my knowledge from all of my prior classes to design, manufacture, test, and compete our very own formula style car. I was placed into the drivetrain and manufacturing sub-teams while on this project. By being on these systems, I truly learned the importance of design for manufacturing. In manufacturing, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to use and learn with the Haas TM-1 we had in our lab. This exposed me to Esprit CAM for the first time and this is where my spark for manufacturing came to life.
