Liquid Engine Integrations Lead
o Led development of the first successfully hot-fired liquid fueled bi-propellent 500lbf rocket engine in the state of Ohio using Ethanol and Nitrous Oxide through groundbreaking research, design, development, and testing.o Researched aerospace propulsion and power systems, characteristics, and operations with an emphasis on two phase fluid behavior and vapor pressurization rocket motors to develop requirements for feed, control, and structural systems.o To achieve desired thrust of 500lb and chamber pressure of 400psi, designed chamber and nozzle geometry using RPA and CEA software to iteratively reach optimal engine characteristics and maximize burn efficiency.o To develop integrated flight systems for liquid engine launch vehicle, led design of sub-minimum diameter fuel and oxidizer tanks optimized for volume and weight saving and piston style pyrotechnic valves designed for minimum electrical load on control hardware, resulting in a system maximizing burn time and minimizing thrust constraints.o To ensure team safety and reduce risk of testing failures, drafted safety checkouts and test procedures, for test stand assembly/prep, cold flows, hot fires, and ultrasonic cleaning which minimized operational hazards.o In order to develop a modular ground test system, designed and modelled a 1400 component test stand to carry out in depth preliminary design review before moving into the component fabrication and assembly project phase.o To assess performance at system and component level, conducted series of tests and evaluations, resulting in increased technical and operational knowledge of feed system dynamics, injector plate characteristics, controls systems, phenolic chamber liner ablation rates, and test stand structural integrity.
Engineering Intern
o To improve compliance on linear actuator undergoing acoustic testing and verification, designed test fixture components for interface point through digital modelling and structural analysis, resulting in the elimination of vibration failure points.o In order to improve manufacturing ease and reduce part cost of rotary actuator bearings, utilized GD & T standards, to draft a complete design and dimensioning standard for all future design, development, and acoustic testing programs.o To reduce contract lead times, worked in conjunction with manufacturing and product engineering departments, to create a machine shop part production pathway and time expenditure sheet to explore new ways of production routing.o Supported legacy drawing update program, to improve dimensional and manufacturing consistency across all production models, and individually drafted and completed 25 Document Change Requests.
