Worked in a general law practice in the fields of family law, estate planning, zoning, criminal defense, real estate transactions and served as a Guardian ad Litem for local courts.

I advised the government of the Fond du Lac Band, the Reservation Business Committee, in a wide variety of legal issues.

I represented members of federally-recognized tribal nations within Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.

I supported Judge Ray in evaluating petitions for Post-Conviction Relief, conducting hearings, and ruling on motions in Child in Need of Aid, juvenile delinquency, and criminal cases. I also assisted the Superior Court in presiding over felony criminal trials and civil lawsuits.

I presented on the topic of "Energy Development and Opposition in Indian Country" to tribal leaders from throughout EPA Region 10 at the conference hosted by the Kalispel Tribe.

Represented the State of Oregon in out-of-custody arraignments in Lane County Circuit Court. Prepared a DUII prosecution involving multiple intoxicants up to the point of trial, made a settlement 2 days before scheduled trial.

Analyzed and wrote legal memoranda and FOIA requests regarding the creation of recovery plans for species listed as endangered and threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

Assisted in drafting a child support, probate, and court code for federally-recognized Wisconsin tribes. Developed materials and conducted a training on Wisconsin utility law for non-attorney advocates, assisted in final editing of the Wisconsin Indian Child Welfare Act Manual for Attorneys.

Worked in the office of State Senator Arnie Roblan (D-Coos Bay) analyzing proposed legislation before the Oregon State Senate especially the Rural Communities and Economic Development Committee that Sen. Roblan chairs.

Worked directly with survivors of domestic violence to obtain and defend restraining orders against their abusers.

Edited and wrote portions of application to the Environmental Protection Agency for the tribe to be treated as a state for the purposes of enforcement of the Clean Water Act. Also wrote memoranda on Indian Child Welfare Act and Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act issues.

Assisted low-income survivors of domestic violence with restraining orders under the Family Abuse Protection Act and the Elders and Persons With Disabilities Act. Provided first-line response and safety planning at the Klamath Crisis Center.

Managed a crew of 5 AmeriCorps and 4 International Conservation Volunteer Exchange volunteers building trails in the Ruby Mountains, Tahoe, and Winnemucca, Nevada. Supervised the design and construction of a non motorized trail within the approved corridor to the top of Winnemucca Mountain on US Bureau of Land Management property.

Taught children in grades K-5 to read at a public school in Vancouver, WA.

Co-led a crew of 5 AmeriCorps volunteers on a meadow restoration project at Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Cleared hundred of acres of new nesting habitat for the Greater Sandhill Crane where fire suppression and flood control projects led to forest encroachment on areas that had been meadow.

Taught professionals and younger students English in a public university in Quito, Ecuador.

Prepared Governor James Doyle's daily press briefings and assisted the Deputy Press Secretary with notifying media organizations of the Governor's events throughout Wisconsin.
