Early in my career, as a banking associate in Chicago, I gained familiarity with self-storage. Intrigued by the simple operating model and market fragmentation, I decided to make a move into the industry by joining the National Self-Storage Group of Marcus & Millichap, followed by MJ Partners. During these years as a broker, I identified a unique opportunity to aggregate non-primary market properties and maximize their value by utilizing a technology enabled management platform. In 2013, I founded Red Dot Storage to seize this opportunity, which he grew from 1 location to 170+ properties, operating in 16 states. As CEO, I raised and deployed $500 million of equity and debt to support Red Dot’s meteoric growth. Additionally, I oversaw the development of Red Dot’s unmanned operating model including proprietary hardware, software, call center, and more. In 2019, I stepped down as CEO to focus on upcoming projects. In 2020, I launched Storage Exchange with the goal of creating an operator-centric transaction platform. By leveraging my extensive experience as an operator and investor, I believe Storage Exchange can deliver maximum transparency and efficiency to buyers, sellers, owners, and operators throughout the self-storage industry.In February of 2020, concurrent with the acquisition of 9 properties, I founded StoreLine, a technology and automation enabled self-storage management platform.
