Responsible for providing engineering services for the Generation Section at Tacoma Power in support of our Hydroprojects and all of the supporting infrastructure associated with them, including our fish hatcheries and campgrounds. In addition to capital projects and improvements, I also support Dam Safety and Hydro personnel with inspections/engineering studies and the development of recommendations and solutions for a broad complex array of supporting equipment and systems (overhead trams, penstocks, power tunnels, bridges, dam spillways, spillway gates, buildings, powerhouses, work platforms, fall protection, etc.). I also support the T&D section with engineering services related to Substation Site Design and Transmission Towers.

Manage the Field Operations Group with the Maintenance & Construction Section at Tacoma Water. Over see approximately 110 represented field staff that are responsible for the operation, maintenance and care of our Water Supply and Water Distribution Systems. This would include reservoirs, pipelines, wells, pump stations, pressure reducing valves, hydrants, valves, distribution mains, water services and water meters.Key functions include development of strategy around hiring, coaching, work processes, systems and coordination with the other groups at Tacoma Water.Working safely, keeping our system in good operating condition, protecting public health and providing excellent customer service to our rate payers are our top priorities.

Responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing an Advanced Asset Management Program at Tacoma Water for all sections at all levels. In addition to developing, updating and refining the overall Asset Management Plan for Tacoma Water, I am responsible for engaging with key stakeholders at the Utility to ensure alignment of the Asset Management program vision with the overall goals of the Utility (or in some cases vice versa). This involves significant interaction and coordination with Superintendent, Management, Section Leads and Operational Staff.Key programmatic responsibilities include oversight of the development of Strategic Asset Management Plans (SAMPs), Strategic Maintenance Management Plans (with the end goal of adopting Reliability Centered Maintenance), Business Case Evaluations for Capital Improvement Projects and Risk based economic models to determine optimal replacement timing for infrastructure.Additionally, I am responsible for maintaining consistency of our Asset Management approach across all sections at Tacoma Water and to ensure that we have a meaningful and accurate understanding of risk and how it pertains to our business decisions.Key skills that this job require include a penchant for logic, strategy, problem solving, teamwork, consensus building, analytics, long term planning, economics (lowest lifecycle costs/business case evaluations) and understanding risk from a triple bottom line (economic, environmental and social) perspective.

Asset Management Plan Coordinator for Tacoma Water. Responsible for leading cross functional focus groups specialized in various asset classes (ie. water meters, water mains, water services, pump stations, etc.) to comprehensively document current business practices/processes, condition of existing infrastructure and make recommendations for future improvements and actions for various asset classes. Develop detailed, risk-based (probability of failure multiplied by consequence of failure) economic /lifecycle models, based on input from the focus groups that also account for replacement and maintenance costs to optimize capital replacement timing for each specific asset in an asset class.Develop strategy for the long term sustainability of the asset management program at Tacoma Water and how to implement it.Effectively communicate the vision of asset management to both the staff and the managers.Prepare presentations of results/findings/recommendations to managers, employees, Utility Board etc.Lead work groups to comprehensively document current business practices/processes and make recommendations for future actions for various asset classes.Provide engineering support for Business Case Evaluations

Manage Purchasing, Taxes, Material Acquistion, Financing and Strategic Planning

Responsible for leading the Customer Support Engineering Section. This sections provides support for all developer driven projects with the Tacoma Water Service Area. This includes new water main designs, fire services, domestic services, fire protection coordination with the local fire marshal and overall navigation of Tacoma Water policies concerning water service.Additionally our group developed and currently manages a $2.5 million dollar in house galvanized main replacement program. This involves survey, construction document creation and project management of Tacoma Water crews during the construction phase.
