As a developing therapist and Master of Social Work student, my clinical approach is informed by a diverse background in both macro and micro practice. I have experience in program and staff management, policy work, and direct client services, which gives me a broader understanding of the systems and structures that impact individual well-being. This perspective allows me to approach therapy with an awareness of both personal and systemic influences on mental health.At the core of my practice is a combination of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and psychodynamic therapy. I believe in meeting clients where they are, helping them explore their motivations and challenges while also examining the deeper emotional and relational patterns that shape their present behaviors.Through Motivational Interviewing, I focus on supporting clients in identifying and working toward their own goals, particularly around areas like addiction, sexual health, and intimacy. By fostering a nonjudgmental space for clients to explore ambivalence and build internal motivation, I aim to empower them in making meaningful and sustainable changes.I also integrate psychodynamic principles, with a focus on early attachment and how past relationships, especially with caregivers, continue to influence current emotional patterns, coping mechanisms, and relationships. I work with clients to bring unconscious dynamics into awareness, helping them gain insight into how these patterns might affect their self-concept, relationships, and ability to navigate challenges.As a queer-affirming and sex-positive therapist, I am particularly passionate about working with queer individuals around issues of addiction, sex, and intimacy, recognizing the complex and often overlapping nature of these concerns. I am also committed to a trauma-informed approach, understanding that many of these issues intersect with histories of trauma and that healing requires both safety and empowerment.Ultimately, my orientation is client-centered, relational, and informed by a deep understanding of the broader systems that affect individuals. My goal is to support clients in exploring their experiences, deepening their self-awareness, and making lasting changes that enhance their well-being.
