Completed eddy covariance training at LICOR Bioscience. Learned how to write programs to generate digital output tables from analog meteorological sensors. Tested infrared gas analyzers and sonic anemometers prior to deployment. Traveled to USDA-ARS research site to assist with cross-calibration experiment, and later tower installation, including wiring and powering of sensors. Organized large datasets obtained from several sources at different time intervals. Created read me files for each of three experimental years. Collaborated with Borlaug scholar on eddy covariance research.

Taught weekly laboratory sections for Meteorology 205, an introductory meteorology course for meteorology/climatology majors, Meteorology 200, a meteorology course open to all majors, and Meteorology 223, atmospheric thermodynamics. Duties included preparing for and teaching material relevant to lab assignments including IDL programming, holding office hours and answering student questions, providing feedback and grading labs, writing quizzes, grading homework, and proctoring exams.

As president of Campus Weather Service for the 2009-2010 academic year, spearheaded a steering committee to make changes to the clubs constitution in efforts to restructure business in the wake of technology shifts, scheduled and ran general assembly meetings and monthly officer meetings, helped apply for university funding for trip to the AMS conference in Atlanta, and gathered volunteers for weather station tours for the college’s open house.As a newspaper branch manager for two years, volunteered for a weekly evening newspaper shift at the campus weather station, led discussion of weather and delegated tasks, wrote four day forecasts, forecast discussions, and special weather features for the local area and gained experience creating a weather page. Instructed members on use of software.As a radio branch manager for two years, volunteered for a weekly radio shift at the campus weather station, collected weather data and produced forecasts for Pennsylvania as a group and then recorded and sent products to various clients. Also discussed weather live with radio hosts at WGRC at 5:50 AM, and created and recorded specialized forecasts for ComRadio and Forever Broadcasting.
