Oversaw and implemented an automated VM provisioning platform to satisfy a requirement for reduced time to delivery for new VMs. It was built on top of vRealize Orchestrator and integrated with VMWare vCenter, Service Now, Infoblox IPAM/DNS, Active Directory, and Puppet. I also created a custom orchestration engine written in Go that mirrored that functionality and implemented additional features such as a reporting engine, structured logging, and unit testing.Participated in Agile project management.Maintained a ticket queue and bug tracker to handle feature requests and bugs.Communicated progress and issues to upper management.

Maintained an up and running Linux environment.Participated in the instrumentation of Puppet as a configuration management system. Wrote Puppet modules, and applied states using it. Also wrote an external node classifier in Go, backed by Service Now to make applied configurations pulled from the CMDB.Aided developers in creating infrastructure for new applications including VMs, IPs, operating systems, and the required libraries/runtimes.

Worked on tickets from a ticket queue.Provided infrastructure support to developers, including creating and maintaining the platforms they ran on (AIX and Linux).Implemented better monitoring through the use of Check_MK and it's alert discovery and predictive monitoring. It effectively reduced our number of false positives, and provided better alerting for actual incidents. For example, it would detect when a systems disk would be at 90% usage 7 days ahead of time by trending the disk growth, which allowed us to deal with the issue during normal business hours.Implemented configuration management in Salt to standardize the environment and provide cleaner ways to do patching and provisioning.Implemented automated provisioning through Foreman, in combination with Salt, to make creating new machines as painless as possible. It was also to potentially support auto-scaling in AWS.
