Chances are, you’re reading this in a standard web browser at 100% zoom with just your eyes. That may seem strange to say, but if you were one of the nearly 450 employees of IFB Solutions who are blind or visually impaired, you probably wouldn’t read it that way. The screen would be significantly enlarged, perhaps the color contrast changed, through a program called ZoomText. Or read aloud to you through JAWS software. Or maybe you wouldn’t be able to access it at all because you were just starting to become computer literate through a specialized technology training class. Blindness changes lives in many negative ways. But the opportunity to work productively, to create value, to add to a local economy, to serve both government and commercial customers – those things change the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired in big, positive ways. My job is to tell their stories, in the right way, to the right audiences, at the right time.
