As the first titled DevOps Engineer at Bambee I laid the groundwork for a DevOps culture.I am a subject matter expert tasked with amplifying our ability to manage and deliver quality code and infrastructure. Writing application code and viewing DevOps as a tool to enable our teams to move fast with confidence.

First up, tackling the new Bambee Guided Payroll product.Working with Nest, Prisma, Jest, Vue, and Nuxt.Deploying to Kubernetes and Netlify via GitHub Actions and Harness.All the other usual suspects like GitHub and TypeScript.

Ownership areas include infrastructure (AWS using infrastructure as code practices), orchestration (Kubernetes), resiliency, CICD, the mono repo which houses all of our front end applications, and full stack code contributions and review in TypeScript.

Led the Healthcare Interoperability squad of 3 other engineers until pandemic related downsizing occurred. Now, as an individual contributor I work on all parts of the ecosystem including infrastructure as code, CICD, Node back-end, and React front-end.

Building as part of the Infrastructure and Architecture squad the base for our ecosystem. Utilizing tools and ideologies based in the DevOps world such as infrastructure as code, Terraform, Terragrunt, CircleCI, HashiCorp Vault, GitHub and AWS. I also contribute to backend microservices built with Node and Express. I augment my squad by assisting with integration points through building React components and pages in an event bus front end communication model utilizing RxJS, Redux, and Reselect.

Building applications for clients across different industries and business levels. From startups to established multi-billion dollar companies. Utilizing React, React Native, Electron, Next.js, and TypeScript among other things to create high quality, performant, beautiful applications.

Contracted to help an early stage startup speed development. React Native Expo application backed by Firebase infrastructure. Utilizing MobX and TypeScript.

Running weekly study groups for current Flatiron School Online Software Engineering Bootcamp students. Utilizing Zoom for video chat and screen sharing in addition to Slack when needed to interact with students during study groups. Ensuring comprehension of the subject matter and helping students work through their stumbling blocks. Use the Socratic method to help students debug issues when working through curriculum either through chat or 1 on 1 screen sharing. Submit pull requests to fix errors in instructions, tests & support documentation. Create JIRA issues when necessary. Updating curriculum and developing more robust lesson plans to target student pain points.

Through daily issues tracking I test new code for expected functionality and communicate with development when needed for fixes. In addition, I participate in planning and execution of a brand new automated testing implementation for the company. I recommend tools and metrics as company implements a partial work from home schedule.

As a key contributor to the front end team, I was making meaningful code contributions by day 2. Rezli is an app that was changing from a pure Ruby on Rails app with Slim views to a fully React front end. I spent the majority of my time taking views that were written in Slim and converting them to React components. In addition, I did code reviews for my peers. We utilized Reflux for unidirectional data flow within our app. Working in an agile environment I spearheaded organizing the remainder of our "Reactification" of our front end into a JIRA Epic with associated tasks attached. This allowed the team to actively work on and know where we were in the process.
