This position encompassed being an SRE to our local datacenter while simultaneously developing & maturing a CDN providing critical infrastructure for over two thousand map making operators. I also developed multiple monitoring pipelines supporting our data center infrastructure, hardware and network, while providing and supporting critical services to our machine learning, computer vision, image collection, and other advanced map-making teams. Being an SRE requires developing distributed systems for configuration management and batch processing. One major project was developing a datacenter monitoring hardware solution integrated with a ticketing system and chat bot for physical device remediation. Additionally, I mentor junior engineers on project development, including distributed systems & service architecture, integration, and configuration management.

Hired on to assist the transition of a Bing Maps datacenter from Microsoft ownership (full Microsoft stack) to Open source over the course of a year. This included hundreds of PB of imagery data and other valuable information, assisting in the development and architecture of the tools to support the infrastructure to ingest and provide all this information to external teams. Network technologies implemented were based on Mellanox and Cisco network equipment. Software technologies ranged from TSQL, VMM, SCOM (all Microsoft) to Icinga, Docker, PXE and additional open-source solutions.

As the technical lead for the Alaska Tax Revenue Management System Project, I was responsible for owning, developing, testing, training and managing multiple subsystems, including security, imaging, data warehouse, mail, design control, discovery and analytics. This included test-driven development, requirement gathering, design sessions, demonstrations, user interface design and more. I worked with two to four subordinates, depending on the subsystem design and did most of the more-complex development as well as documentation, verification, troubleshooting and gaining approval from the client throughout every step of system development. I maintained over 60 databases, six servers and 12 paper modification devices including high volume printers, envelope openers, sorters and stuffers. Full time position held concurrent with a full time engineering coursework.I managed technical and information systems for 80 employees across 5 locations in the Bozeman area, where system performance of operational equipment, sales platforms, and network security was crucial to business. I maintained over 15 SCADA-controlled devices that automated the production of Schnee’s world-famous Pac boots, clothing and accessories. I successfully managed the merging of two inventory operating systems, each with approximately 20 thousand unique items and 10 thousand similar items. I managed the subsequent changeover of 'point of sale', accounting, financial reports and purchasing functions to one unified system and software set. I set up wide area network security custom fit for specific point of sale operability and a flexible phone system saving more than 20% in administrative costs. I single handedly installed and managed the entire LAN and phone network, using multiple protocols for a multimillion dollar location performing high-capacity sales through various channels. Additionally, I tutored users in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and proprietary system procedures.

College intern position. Processed and catalogued incoming supplies. Delivered materials to substation construction sites. Aided crews of up to 12 linemen in the construction of two substations, including filing development reports, and photographing the process. I was an integral part of the switch-out of twelve thousand non-AMR (Automated Meter Reading) wattage-hour meters, a multi-million dollar project which significantly increased company efficiency. I kept the supply yard and adjacent warehouse clean, organized and functional for the team of 20 linemen and foremen, who worked in and around this area, daily. Kept stock and consignment areas full of supplies. I operated an eight-ton forklift daily, to move valuable incoming and outgoing freight. I also helped keep a fleet of 16 utility trucks and business vehicles presentable and operational.
