For much of my life, I've held an interest in business and how to improve operations. This led to an interest in business communication and how communication plays a central role in well functioning organizations. My career is devoted to helping others improve their managerial and communication skills, as well as researching new methods to improve this process. I am currently the Assistant Dean for Program Assessment and Global Engagement and a faculty member in the Department of Management at Texas State University. I also own Elevation Consulting Partners. Through these endeavors, I have the opportunity to teach students in a classroom setting and work with employees and teams in a variety of companies from small organizations to Fortune 500. My goal in teaching and consulting is to help people create a plan to improve their communication, and thus their experience and opportunities at work. My career-track also allows me to engage in meaningful business research. My research primarily looks at the communication practices of employees as they enter new jobs and careers. With an increasing reliance on technology, the process has changed in the way individuals interact with a new organization. I am also interested in training and how that process can be used as an effective communication tool between the organization and the individual.
