In June of 1997, I joined the tech support group at Ultranet. In 1998, we were purchased by RCN. I rose through the ranks of the NOC to become a Network Engineer with RCN. In February of 2002, I was downsized. After a year of unemployment, I began working at Pollak in February of 2003 focusing more on network security and plan to increase my knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, wireless network security and IDS. In February of 2006, due to management changes, I left Pollak.I heard of an opening at ITA Software from a former co-worker and friend from my RCN days. In May of 2006, I joined the NetOps group at ITA Software working with two former Ultranet employees and a refugee from Genuity.Since that time, the department has grown adding engineers from Tufts and additional former Ultranet and RCN employees among others. In April 2011, ITA Software was purchased by Google, Inc. and I've been working for them since. In 2013 I joined the Google Acquisitions Network Operations team as part of a reorganization. The focus was taken off of ITA Software and more toward various non-standard networks which did not have adequate network support. I have spent my time in Acq NetOps redesigning and supporting a variety of networks from small to large. In March 2015, we were reorganized under Corporate NetOps, mostly doing the same work but likely expanding responsibility into other areas, mostly consisting of "off-net" environments.Specialties: Dynamic routing protocols, Cisco, Juniper, A10 and Foundry routers, switches and load balancers, wireless networking, Fortinet, Juniper, Checkpoint and Netscreen firewalls, Unix, Linux
