About Seth Judson, Md, Mhs
I am a infectious disease physician-scientist who is passionate about safeguarding human, animal, and planetary health. My research focuses on translating principles from the eco-epidemiology and transmission of globally emerging zoonotic and vector-borne viruses to improve early detection and mitigation of outbreaks. My experience and training spans disease ecology, virology, clinical medicine, and epidemiology at the human-animal-environmental interface. Using interdisciplinary One Health and planetary health approaches, I collaborate internationally with clinicians, scientists, veterinarians, and public health experts to create actionable tools for policymakers. For my current research, I am using machine learning to develop risk maps and forecasts for yellow fever in West Africa to inform diagnostic resource allocation and targeted vaccination strategies. My additional areas of research include identifying spillover events of filoviruses, characterizing nosocomial transmission of zoonotic viruses, and strengthening international data reporting in order to improve pandemic preparedness.I am part of the Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative class of 2024, and I earned my public health degree through the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a specialization in clinical investigation and data science. I completed my internal medicine residency in the Global Health Pathway at the University of Washington. I received my MD at UCLA and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors and Distinction at Stanford University. For more about my work and collaborations visit: https://sethjudson.com
