Culham Engineering is one of the largest heavy engineering industrial steel fabricators in New Zealand . At Culhams , my role as a project enginneer involves managing and delivering industrial and commercial steel fabrication projects. Responsibilities include :# Project cost and labour estimation # Review project specifications and issue fabrication drawings to workshop# Procure materials from suppliers within budget allocated# Address fabrication issues and consult with design engineers to bring the efficient solution# Attend client meetings and update project progress# Manage progress claims, RFI's etc.Prior to joining Culham engineering , I worked in Muscat(Oman) in civil construction projects. I have also worked in hospitality and logistics industry on part time basis during my university studies. Key projects worked# Refining NZ 2018 shutdown - Managed and coordinated emergent works during pre-shutdown - Carried site measurements for pipelines to be replaced during shutdown - Issued piping isometric drawings to workshop for prefab.# Golden Bay Cement Wharf Upgrade - Managed and coordinated the fabrication of several heavy steel structural components - Completed the offisite within time frame and budget

I started my career as a mechanical site engineer with Bahanas International Company L.L.C in the Sultanate of Oman and worked there for two years. The company was a medium scale enterprise involved in commercial construction, heavy equipment and machineries erection, maintenance, metal fabrication and auto refurbishment. During my tenure at Bahanas, I was given the chance to manage and supervise the site operations which include the close interactions with co – engineers, subcontractors and clients. This really helped be sharpen by interpersonal skills in a business environment. Being a quick learner, I have up scaled myself to learn the basics of civil engineering concepts, tendering and documentation process etc. This greatly helped me to effectively communicate and manage the project plan with the engineers and other stake holders.The following points highlights my two years’ work experience in the company:• Managed work site and ensured proper safety procedures are being followed• Assisted with team and project manager for successful delivery of project within budget and time frame• Assisted the project manager in developing a risk register for stakeholders involved with a project. This helped to identify the risk at the earliest and mitigation plan were discussed and captured in the risk register.• Reduced worker compensation at work sites by 40% by devising plans for better safety and efficient working conditions for co workers* Prepared BOQ for small scale works based on design and specification.• Handled the procurement of materials and equipment • Liaised with other sub-contractors for smooth execution of work• Conducted tool box meetings to motivate team thereby increase work productivity at site.My passion to study more about managing projects and move up higher in the organisation motivated me to pursue higher studies which ultimately was the reason for leaving the job.
