We live close together, yet far apart. Cities are bigger than ever; the streets are bustling with people and technology connects everyone together. But regardless of the new complexities and rules of our new societies, it appears human nature and relationships still require the same things they did hundreds to thousands of years ago – all of us still crave connection, belonging, acceptance and love, as we always have. Amid all the technological advancements, a cry arises for more human connection.I always believed I would be a renowned surgeon by the time I was a grown-up, prancing through the hospital halls in a white lab coat, investigating all sorts of alien diseases and deformities. At some point I must have realised it’s not the 1850’s anymore, you can’t experiment on people, and I turned towards design: a field that allows creativity and problem-solving to merge and create a better life. It’s service design and systemic design that really make me spark, especially when it's about relationships, mental and physical health, the influences of our environment on our happiness, movement... I love researching these topics and applying my new-found knowledge to design for human needs and drives from a wide-eye view. I enjoy drawing, talking to people, reading and questioning everything to reach conceptual designs. A summary of the main activities that keep me busy:- Pensive thinking and pondering- Reading- Envisioning utopia- Socialising- Sketching- Going for a jog- Learning Japanese- Following my interests (anatomy, anthropology, social sciences, design, literature, language, the human body, the human mind)
