Shannon Burkhead attended the University of Illinois where she earned her Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) and her Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and graduated from both programs with honors. After finishing graduate school, she took the Oregon and California bar exams back-to-back and passed each exam on the first attempt. She maintains active licenses in both states. After working for a small firm in San Francisco, Shannon opened up her own practice in 2015 with a focus on representing property owners and advising management companies with any and all aspects of their landlord-tenant issues. There are a number of issues which may arise in any landlord-tenant relationship, including, but not limited to: failure to pay rent, lease violations, nuisance accusations and complaints from other occupants, short-term rental problems. While related to the overall issue of landlord-tenant disputes, each issue often requires a different strategy and/or legal procedure. With this in mind, Shannon assists landlords in a variety of different settings, including pre-litigation attempts to informally resolve issues that may arise between landlords and their occupants, mediations and arbitration hearings at the rent board, settlement conferences, and/or formal litigation up to and through trial. In addition to her own practice, Shannon also maintains the position as of counsel to a multi-person law firm in downtown San Francisco. In her capacity as of counsel, she assists the firm's partners and associates with various aspects of the firm's own cases, which range from residential and commercial landlord-tenant disputes to HOA disputes to real property transactions.
