• Assess and plan for care provided to patients in the pre-op and PACU settings for specialties such as GI, ophthalmology, urogynecology, pain management, GYN, orthopedics, general and plastic surgeries• Awarded valuable contributor status each year since 2016 for initiating patient safety improvements such as; improved monitoring of fast track patients in PACU setting, and development of a communication tool to improve patient flow from the OR to PACU• Serve as a preceptor for new staff in the PACU setting• Serve as a mentor for nurses taking the PACU national certification exam

• Provided Post Anesthesia nursing care provided to post-op patients for specialties such as GI, urogynecology, bariatrics, GYN, orthopedics, general and plastic surgeries• Mentored 2 nurses who successfully passed the PACU national certification exam

• Provided Post-Anesthesia nursing care provided to post-op patients for specialties ranging from minor same-day procedures to life-saving critical care procedures• Served on Unit Based Practice Council to improve care provided to PACU patients, to shape new policy, and support the Magnet designation process for this facility• Gained more holistic view of patient care by reaching Level III Clinical Ladder. This required participation in a hospital council, a yearly research project and presentation to staff, BSN preparation, attendance of continuing education in my specialty area, community volunteer hours, and obtaining national certification in my specialty area• Displayed expert level patient care and was awarded PACU nurse of the year 2014 by my peers

• Provided excellent nursing care of premature infants and prepared families for care of special need infants prior to discharge • Developed discharge teaching plans for non-English speaking and deaf families • Participated in community-based initiative to promote breastfeeding as the preferred feeding method in the NICU • Served on Unit Based Practice Council to identify and promote best practices for breastfeeding support for NICU patients which impacted a department-wide policy change
