As part of the corporate Environment and Sustainability team at Queensland Rail, I have the opportunity to make positive changes by providing environmental advice and support to the business to manage the organisation's environmental impacts and ensuring compliance with environmental obligations and objectives. In my current role, I lead the development and maintenance of Queensland Rail's environmental management system and frameworks in line with ISO14001, legal and regulatory obligations and enterprise strategies and objectives; and aid the development and implementation of programs, tools and processes to embed environmental risk understanding and management across the business. Further, I coordinate the integration of environmental and sustainability requirements with applicable business systems, including data management, to improve compliance and support analysis and reporting. Since the introduction of the waste levy on 1 July 2019, I have been passionately working with the business and our waste service partner towards the development and implementation of waste minimization strategies and initiatives. Before joining the E& team in May 2017, I held the position of Senior Assurance and Compliance Officer where I was responsible for managing the planning and implementation of assurance activities to meet the requirements of the applicable Queensland Rail Workplace Health and Safety, Electrical Safety, Rail Safety and Environmental legislative, regulatory and organisational standards and risks. I provided independent safety and environment assurance training, coaching, mentoring, support and leadership to the relevant functions in planning and conducting assurance activities to measure the effectiveness of risk controls and achieve Queensland Rail's safety and environment assurance program business targets and objectives.
