I gained agricultural skills through WWOOF. I worked for two months at a vineyard in northern California called Clos Saron. We were preparing for harvest mostly by pruning and planting. I then spent some time in Texas and worked on a ranch, living in a cob building and doing mosaics. Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms, USA (WWOOF-USA®) is part of a worldwide effort to link visitors with organic farmers, promote an educational exchange, and build a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

I interned at the Grand Haven Tribune and was able to gain experience covering local stories as well as editing and rewriting stories for print. At the same time I was the back page editor for the Buc's Blade at Grand Haven High School.
