Ms. Mason specializes in grant writing and in curriculum design and test development. She is the author of more than 150 magazine articles for local, regional and national publications. She served as the television scriptwriter for Landscape Solutions (HGTV) and contributed to "Icons of Garden Design" and "Encyclopedia of Gardens." She has written curriculum and assessment materials for HarperCollins College Publishers, Addison-Wesley-Longman, and Western Governors University. A former archaeologist, Ms. Mason's master’s thesis on coastal erosion in National Wildlife Refuges was published by the National Park Service.

The Georgia Rotary Districts Character Education Program is a nonprofit devoted to promoting character values and ethical literacy among high school students in Georgia. As the program’s Executive Director, Ms. Mason guided the growth of the statewide Laws of Life Essay Contest from 2006 until 2017. During that time, more than 530,000 Georgia teens wrote a Laws of Life essay on topics such as courage, compassion, generosity, and perseverance, and the contest awarded more than $225,000 in cash awards to students and teachers. In 2009, Ms. Mason oversaw the program’s transition from a small organization into a thriving, independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit co-branded with Rotary International. Worked with nonprofit boards to conceptualized capital campaigns. Wrote and edited case studies and public relations materials for the Birmingham YMCA; the Hispanic Healthcare Coalition of Georgia; the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia; the Bell Center for Early Intervention Programs (Birmingham, AL); the National Monument Foundation’s $14 million campaign for the Millennium Gate; and more.

Conducted archeological field surveys of proposed cell tower sites and wrote Section 106 reviews. Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Geologist, conducted Phase I ESAs and NEPA reviews.

Wrote and edited college-level examinations and curriculum materials (textbooks and instructor’s manuals) for the FLMI Program, a university-level program in insurance and financial services. As an examinations writer, she developed original content by discerning the most important concepts in a text, bringing together relevant information from various parts of a text, and crafting examinations questions that would challenge test-testers yet be absolutely fair. Subject areas included life and health insurance, economics, human resource management, pension planning, marketing and finance.
