Over the last five years, I’ve been sharing my story of triumph over adversity in an outwardly facing way as a means and path to healing and self-liberation, as well as to empower and inspire people with disabilities. During this time, I have become hyper aware of the lack of representation of people with disabilities, particularly in mainstream media and related platforms. When people with disabilities are portrayed, it is often as not capable, defective, in competent, or not attractive or desirable. This, of course, is inaccurate and misguided. The projects I have participated in below were intended to dispel many of these beliefs, including to help break down barriers and create pathways for other people with disabilities to reach their fullest potential.
