Dr. Stephen G. Odaibo is CEO and Founder of RETINA-AI Health, Inc. He is a Physician, Retina Specialist, Computer Scientist, Full Stack AI Engineer, and AI/ML expert.Dr. Odaibo completed undergraduate in mathematics at Univ of Alabama (UAB) and medical school at Duke University, where he won the Barrie Hurwitz Award for Excellence in Neurology. He completed ophthalmology residency at Howard and Retina fellowship at Univ of Michigan. In addition to his medical training, he holds Masters Degrees in both Mathematics and Computer Science. In 2017, UAB college of Arts and Sciences awarded him the college’s highest honor--the UAB Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. Dr. Odaibo has authored three mathematics textbooks: "Quantum Mechanics and the MRI Machine" (2012), "The Form of Finite Groups: A Course on Finite Group Theory" (2016), and most recently, "The Foundational Mathematics of Artificial Intelligence" (2024).Dr. Odaibo has extensive experience in building AI systems and running AI ventures. Dr. Odaibo is a hands-on full-stack AI/ML engineer and data scientist. He is a Google Cloud-Certified Professional Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer. He single-handedly built the world's first mobile AI application for eyecare providers. He is CEO of RETINA AI—a venture where he and his team designed the RETINA-AI Galaxy for detection of diabetic retinopathy. As CEO of RETINA-AI, he organized and managed the largest pivotal clinical trial ever done in the United States for an autonomous AI system. His managerial role has garnered him extensive skill in recruitment and management of tech teams. He additionally has expertise in the regulatory and legal aspects of AI-- Dr. Odaibo was awarded two U.S. patents for inventing AI systems for detecting disease from ophthalmic images.His expertise has been sought out across the globe. Dr. Odaibo chaired and ran the AI workshops at the Medical Device Software Development Summits in the United States (2022, 2023) and European Union (2023). He has also shared his AI expertise in Asia. In 2019 Dr. Odaibo chaired the "Artificial Intelligence & Tech in Medicine Symposium" at the National Medical Association Meeting. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Duke University Masters of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence program.Overall, Dr. Odaibo has extensive experience in AI at the technical, managerial, and regulatory levels. He continues to see patients part time as a Retina Physician, and he enjoys the privilege of providing excellent care to his patients.
