OPIC, the U.S. Government's development finance institution, mobilizes private capital to help solve critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy. OPIC achieves its mission by providing investors with financing, political risk insurance, and support for private equity funds in 150+ countries.As part of the Structured Finance & Insurance team, I originated, underwrote, and financed over $600 million in debt investments spanning the energy, telecom, infrastructure, banking, and agriculture sectors in emerging markets. I also represented OPIC on the inter-agency Power Africa Initiative. Key accomplishments include:• Closed a $4.1 million loan to Microsoft/Mawingu Networks for last mile internet connectivity in Kenya• Closed a $400 million loan to Atlas Mara/Banc ABC to expand lending to small and medium enterprises in Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, and Nigeria• Closed a $22.5 million investment guaranty to Citibank for a loan to JPS in Jamaica for transmission and distribution upgrades (won Euromoney’s Deal of the Year Award in 2015)• Closed a $100 million loan to JPS in Jamaica for transmission and distribution upgrades, community renewal efforts, streetlight upgrades, and debt refinancing
