Steve Gollehon is a lighting designer who uses light to reveal architecture in an attempt to enhance the human experience. He believes that both natural and artificial light have a profound impact on our perception of space as well as our health and well-being. When fully integrated with architecture, light can be used to convey meaning, evoke emotion, and create a visual narrative for a space. Steve’s background in architectural engineering combines this creativity with a level of pragmatism resulting in designs that are visually pleasing, environmentally friendly, and easy to manage. Steve’s responsibilities as a member of the design team span from the inception of a project through final aiming after construction has been completed. His tasks include conceptual development, electric and daylighting simulation and analysis using advanced three-dimensional computer modeling, luminaire selection and system documentation using Building Information Modeling (BIM), code compliance and energy calculations, control strategies, and construction administration responsibilities. In addition, Steve works closely with other disciplines to develop construction details and assist with material selection performing scale mock-ups when necessary to evaluate potential options.
