I managed the Restrict Code Project; this project was an enhancement that allowed a policy to be restricted for some transactions and allowed for others. This was a CICS/DB2/Batch system that required extensive use of Xpediter and JCL skills. Microsoft Project and Lotus 123 were used to manage the project life cycle.
As the DB2 Database Administrator, my duties included supporting and maintaining a database consisting of 40 tables. Functions included tablespace/table design and creation, maintaining identical audit tables, imagecopy, runstats, load, unload, dsn1copy, reorg, space calculations, partitioned table creation, referential integrity, etc. Omegamon for DB2 and DBExplain were used. Lotus 123 was used for space calculations. I assisted with the install of DB2 Version 2.3. I was the primary support for all DB2 related activities. In addition, I supported all help desk calls for the Merchandise Control System (CICS/DB2/COBOL2), assisted in analysis, design, and programming on several other systems, and interviewed candidates for contracting and employment positions.Other projects included the design of a Store Invoicing System. This was a batch DB2 system that consisted of a 12 million row partitioned table. I also designed a project called Autokill Breakout.
Responsible for creating a Promotion/Coupon System from analysis and design through implementation. Based on a business need, this system tracked percent and dollar off coupons from the point of sale through reporting. Redesigned the Sales Analysis Systems by setting up design sessions with the Merchandising department. The Stock Status System, Sales System, and Inventory Management System were redesigned. Created a user reference manual consisting of a table of contents, screen layouts, and a pictorial system flowchart. Using this manual, I conducted training sessions for several user departments.I also created a Sales Trend Report for the President and several Vice Presidents of HomeBase. This report showed sales trends for the current year and last year based on a family tree structure.Responsibile for the planning, analyzing, and cost justification of over half the projects for the upcoming fiscal year for the Merchandising and Marketing departments.
I worked on a new development project, the Construction Management System (CMS). This system was written using APS-CASE (Intersolv), DB2, CICS, COBOL, and IMS DB. For this system, I coded and unit tested numerous programs, created an integration/system test plan, a production migration plan, and a disaster recovery plan. I implemented these plans with the aid of other CMS team members. I worked with this project through its pilot stage. This was the first project at McDonald’s to use CASE tools and DB2.Staff Accountant/Programmer: McOpCo AccountingI wrote an ISPF Panel/CLIST driven system, which allowed for on-line access of crew and manager payroll information. Also, I wrote several reports for the accounting departments.Internship: Summer 1987I wrote three interactive production systems using the FOCUS programming language.
Working in the Trust department, I wrote and maintained programs for the ATM system and the savings system using PL/1, COBOL, and MRCS in an IMS DB/DC environment.
