Susan is a tax attorney and CPA with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry focusing principally on the U.S. tax aspects of significant cross-border transactions, inbound and outbound investment, international and corporate tax planning and capital markets transactions. Susan's clients include banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds, private equity firms and regulated investment companies.Prior to joining Mazars USA as the financial services tax partner, Susan was Head of Tax for the Americas at Barclays Capital. In that capacity, she established and managed the tax reporting and planning function for the investment banking, capital markets, wealth and credit cards businesses with oversight of more than 15 tax professionals. During her tenure at Barclays, Susan implemented transaction-based planning initiatives, notably the tax efficient structuring of the acquisition of the Lehman North American operations, established a tax risk management framework, developed a comprehensive transfer pricing organization and favorably resolved a large case federal tax examination. During this time, she also worked on several projects with the U.S. Treasury department concerning the taxation of structured notes, as well as with industry groups regarding the tax treatment of prepaid forwards and equity swaps.Susan adds value to her clients by using her through her broad-based tax technical expertise, extensive industry experience and collaborative approach to reach practical and cost-effective business solutions.
