I'm a polymer materials scientist and Engineer at Veryst Engineering. I work with clients to understand their materials so that we can design robust products. Our work at Veryst is often multi-disciplinary, and I most enjoy projects that combine our expertise across materials science, mechanics, and multiphysics simulation to solve pressing technical challenges in R&D. One of my favorite things about my job is that we work with clients in all kind of industries, from consumer products to medical devices and heavy industry.I get really excited when I get to learn about a challenge facing a client. The most interesting questions that are facing engineers today don't have one single "correct" answer. Instead, interesting questions have several possible answers, and we need to combine technical needs and practical constraints to arrive at a best answer. During my PhD studies in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, my research focused on the multi-disciplinary fields of materials engineering, soft matter physics, and bio-inspired materials design. After finishing my PhD, I joined the Harris Orthopaedic Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where we developed drug-releasing materials for treating post-surgical pain and infection.Prior to my graduate studies, I researched computational models for chemical reactions between solid-phase and gaseous components. Our work is used to improve the accuracy high-throughput computational materials discovery.My other interests include data analysis & machine learning, science policy, sustainability initiatives, and ultimate frisbee.
