Investigated and prosecuted complex fraud cases, including healthcare, procurement and contractor fraud, as well as other violations of federal law, under the False Claims Act (including qui tam actions), Stark, Anti-kickback, and other federal statutes. Served as lead counsel for the government in numerous healthcare-related FCA cases involving hospitals, hospice providers, skilled therapy companies, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, private physician practice groups, and individual physicians. Investigated and litigated cases related to lack of supervision, medical necessity, Medicare Secondary Payer issues, Stark, physician compensation, kickbacks, physician referrals, and various other issues.Defended the United States, its agencies, agents and employees, in lawsuits ranging from wrongful death, medical malpractice, constitutional torts, personal injury, Title VII, habeas, and Social Security appeals, in both Federal District Court and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Prosecuted federal felony and misdemeanor offenses and represented the United States in numerous criminal appeals before the Eleventh Circuit.Recognized by U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office of Inspector General ("OIG") for work prosecuting healthcare fraud cases.As an AUSA, worked closely with virtually every agency of the United States Government, including but not limited to HHS, DEA, ATF, FBI, Secret Service, Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Education, Customs and Border Protection, Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of Homeland Security, Dept. of Commerce, Bureau of Prisons, Dept. of the Treasury, U.S. Postal Service, and the Railroad Retirement Board.
