I showcased my industry knowledge and ambition by leading the Mechanical Design Section for the 3rd Generation of Moto 360 connected wearable devices, including the Display/PCB assembly and Bracket design and providing design Display lens, Die-cuts and Measurement fixture using ProE (PTC Creo). I also utilized keen attention to detail to evaluate existing designs and processes and recommend solutions and methodologies to optimize quality, productivity, and efficiency. In addition, I collaborated with the project team and researched industry best practices to formulate innovative design concepts and define mechanical component outlines and assembly schemes throughout the product lifecycle.I was successful in my role and demonstrated my advanced knowledge and expertise through several accomplishments, including:Spearheading the structural design of the world’s first shatterproof display product for the housing of Droid turbo 2. ■ Receiving honor and recognition as a high-performing mechanical engineering expert throughout Motorola Korea, as well as corporate headquarters in Chicago. ■ Demonstrating technical expertise and drive as the Mechanical Design Section Leader through successfully launching Droid Turbo 2 in 2015 and Moto X 2nd Gen in 2014, and spearheading the housing assembly, including display, imager, and sensor systems. ■ Designing a solution for the Droid Turbo 2 to prevent field quality issues with the plastic display and plastic lens by testing the DOE with various material, treatment and plating options on the front chassis to reinforce the device strength using prototype mock-ups.

As the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, I oversaw the design, layout, testing, performance, and overall evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems. I also mentored junior staff through technical consultation, scheduling, establishing quality, and determining costs and risks to support multiple programs. My experience lent itself to realizing design solutions and corrective actions by performing failure analyses and DOEs, validating new designs, and enhancing designs based on testing and performance evaluations. My role also involved determining field quality, usability, manufacturability, and reliability to accurately and consistently detail parts layout and parts design. In this position, I successfully launched over 10 products a year, including RAZR M for Verizon, Xoom 2 Tablet, and Motorola’s first Satellite DMB phone, while maintaining compliance with project timeline and budget.

I facilitated the product lifecycle from initiation, including proposals, specifications, and mechanical design feasibility, to successful product design, development, and analysis. I examined crucial factors affecting mechanical design, including ID, DFM, DFA, DFS, FMEA, cost, quality and reliability. I also designed mechanical parts and assemblies in accordance with specifications regarding appearance, cosmetic finish, and required features by expertly operating a 3D CAD tool in alignment with best practices and industry experience. I sustained an up-to-date knowledge of mechanical design, issue analysis, reliability testing, process development, experiment design, and new materials to remain on the cutting edge of mechanical design technology and employ the most efficient, innovative, and practical methodologies. I ensure teamwork by coordinating with ID, EE, and supply chain engineer teams to review hazards to success, mitigate risks, and provide corrective and preventative actions.Key Achievements include: ■ Designed and launched several innovative and quality products, including Motorola’s first CDMA 2000 device for the Chinese market, as well as MC8900, P6061, C510 and E610 series for the Chinese and Korean market.
