While working on my PhD in Building Science, I performed energy audits on over 50 buildings using BMS data to determine if existing commercial buildings could be retrofit to achieve Net Zero Energy. As a Building Scientist at Beca, I knew many of our customers were wasting 20-30% of their energy because their building’s HVAC systems were not optimised. Through my research, I discovered that by analysing BMS data to quickly identify and implement HVAC energy savings measures, we could deliver 10-30% savings.This led to the founding of BTune in 2016. Coordinate and teach the Buildings and Energy course which is run for post graduate Building Science Students. The course assesses the interaction of energy with buildings. The focus is on energy performance and energy management in practice.
