My first year as a teacher I worked in a behavior classroom, working with students who had behavior issues that kept them from being successful in a general education classroom. It was my mission to move as many of them into general education as possible. During this time I was able to increase the time many of them spent in the general education classrooms significantly.My second and third years I began working with students with Autism and other communication behavior disorders. I gained a lot of training in different tools, including STAR, FACTOR, Edmark and TouchMath. All these tools have helped to teach the students tools to make them more successful. I again took it as my mission to move as many of them to general education as I could. While many were not able to be successful in the general education classes, a few were able to move more toward general education.
