Analyzed the number of modes, the linear dependency between modal vectors, different mode shapes and orientation was found whether in bending or torsion mode• Formulated the complexity of the mode shapes using Modal Vector Complexity Plots (MVCP)Experimental Modal Analysis of a Circular Plate using Shaker Test• Acceleration responses were captured using the data acquisition system with the aid of X-Modal III software• 34 modal frequencies are obtained for a system without added mass and 33 frequencies with added mass• The modes obtained using experimental method was validated using the finite element analysis. The modal frequencies and mode shapes were matchedFrequency Response Function (FRF) & Coherence in (MIMO) data on MATLAB• Analyzed noise and leakage in FRF data by applying various averaging techniques like cyclic averaging, overlapping, the effect of windowing• Analyzed the benefits of H1 and Hv algorithms. Completed Summer Internship on Friction Stir Welding (FSW) at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is considered as the most significant development in metal joining in the last 25 years and was developed by Wayne Thomas at The Welding Institute (TWl), UK, in December 1991. Unlike traditional welding operation which involves the melting of material, FSW is a solid-state joining process where mixing of metal at the interface of plates is achieved by a cylindrical probe with high rotational speed leading to frictional heat and plastic deformation. The grain size is restrained to a small value by Dynamic Re-crystallization, thereby giving improved weld strength. The experimental and analytical work during the internship included the following tasks:• Conducted several experiments of friction Stir welding on Aluminium and Steel• Used different Tool material, RPM, Feed rate, Plunge Depth and Base metals thickness• Analyzed the grain size across the weld (weld nugget, TMAZ, HAZ) and predicted location of failure• Performed tensile, Izod and Charpy test, and Microstructural analysis(grain size and microhardness ) using different etchants
