As an intern in Winona, I spent a lot more time working with the management side of the mill. I was the assistant to the head miller, which allowed me to work in the mill but also have to complete tasks that the head miller would complete on the management side. This was good experience for me for in the future when I move up into a management position. It taught me how to learn to handle different situations as well as handle different types of personalities that you come across. It also helped me learn how to lead a whole mill team and make sure everyone is doing what they need to be doing to complete daily tasks and keep the mill up and running to the best of its ability.

Tolleson, Az

As an intern in Tolleson, AZ, my main goals for the summer where to get a full overview of the day to day operations of a commercial mill as well as improve my skills and knowledge of the milling industry. For the most part, I just spent a few weeks in each department, trying to learn how they went about their daily business. I had a main project over the summer, which was to test the pneumatic conveying lines in the mill to help them find where they were having problems and help find a solution to their problem. I was successful in helping them find their problem and was able to help them correct their air flow within their lines and solve the problem.
