Created a VMWARE build factory at the Honda datacenter and worked to board the Global Server Build team in order to move the majority of new server builds abroad.Primary Linux Build Admin: Lead focal on the State of Texas Build team. Responsible for deploying all new Linux servers across the account. Create VMWARE templates to facilitate rapid deployment of new servers base operating system. Configure servers for primary purpose: database, application, web, file, etc. Deployment of Zope/Plone CMS across several agencies.Linux Team Lead: In charge of team of Linux administrators responsible for consolidating 30 state agency datacenters into one. Extensively utilized virtualization with VMWARE VirtualCenter to migrate existing servers into a 24/7 state-of-the-art datacenter. Performed security audits, patching and remediation. Primary on-call administrator for Linux and BSD at seven state agencies. Backup Solaris admin at three. Enterprise SAP deployment and IPSoft IPCenter deployment for scripted automation.

Texas Parks and Wildlife is a mostly-private funded government agency who takes care of Texas' 115 state parks and historical sites. They also issue hunting and fishing licenses as well as keeping track of boat registrations. It is a lot of work keeping up with this. They have a whole room of servers that not only tracks all this data, but makes much of it available to the public on web servers.The best thing I worked on there was a project to put WiFi in all the state parks. Rather than using store bought products, we made our own stuff out of twigs and mud. You'll be hard pressed to find a Texas camper without a laptop as an integral part of his outdoor gear now.

Websphere is the number one web application platform. My team collated the bits and pieces of the product written by programmers around the world and made it into usable software.It takes a lot of looking after. We were constantly updating, de-bugging, troubleshooting etc 300 servers and their software, 24/7. Fun talking to programmers all over the world in the middle of the night, but a bit hectic. I finished a program that did the manual half of my job automatically, then I left to be a Unix Administrator.

Our team invented different tests for experimental IBM products and software, then ran them. I got to play with brand new gadgets in a garage-type group (the IBM Pervasive Group). My favorite project was our collaboration with Opera, over in Norway.
