Congolese refugees fleeing war, especially from the Eastern parts of Congo in the early 1990s were hosted in Kawambwa (Kala) and Mporokoso (Mwange) Refugee camps. As Repatriation Associate, I was responsible for the overall repatriation of Congolese refugees from both Kala and Mwange in accordance with the letter and spirit of human rights. As a team, we: - Coordinated the reception, registration and assistance to persons of concern to UNHCR.- Monitored and supervised the implementation of UNHCR programmes - Monitored refugee movements related to repatriation and other inter-camps transfers;- Formulated project submissions, including community development and self-reliance activities in collaboration with local authorities and Implementing Partners;- Responsible for implementing the UNHCR M&E system- Planned, organised and conducted the process of organised (and/or ad-hoc) repatriation of refugees who fell under UNHCR operational responsibility.- Coordinated repatriation of 12,000 refugees to the Democratic Republic of Congo- Ensured voluntary repatriation operations adhered to the principles of fundamental international human rights and refugee law - Ensured that all voluntary repatriation operations adhered to the values enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations: respect for fundamental human rights, social justice and human dignity, and respect for the equal rights of women and men, girls and boys- Kept abreast with all policy, program and operational developments in relation to refugee/refugees with special needs (women, children, the elderly, among others) - Management of Rapids and proGres databases

M&E Coordinator SgbvCare International, Zambia Jan 2007 - Feb 2009Lusaka, ZambiaZambia, like many countries globally is grappling with high prevalence of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) cases, with more than 16,000 cases reported annually by the Zambia Police Victim Support Unit (VSU). Care International Zambia, working with the Ministry of Gender, the UN in Zambia and local NGOs, was the first to pilot SGBV One-Stop-Centres. I was privileged to serve as the first monitoring and evaluation coordinator for the project. Key functions included:- Designed and developed SGBV M&E system (still in use by Ministry of Health One Stop Centres)- Monitoring and Evaluation to ensure program efficiency and compliance- Design and maintenance of program database- Conducted SGBV trainings to CARE SGBV partners: Police, YWCA, WLSA- Carry out organizational research and surveys – baselines and client satisfaction surveys
