During the past year, I have spent extensive time working on Cisco VoIP and IP Telephony Labs to compliment my intimate knowledge of PSTN and NGN Switches with IP-specific knowledge. I have recently achieved CCVP (or CCNP Voice) and IPT Design Specialist certifications and is working towards my CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) in Voice. Also, I am at the forefront of proposing new network project solutions for our clients. I am involved in planning, design, implementation and support of network initiative projects.

I was responsible for the installation and commissioning of new projects as well as handover to Operational teams.While working for Telecom Egypt, I was involved in a few deployment and migration projects. One project was a ToIP solution project based on Ericsson equipment including Multi-Vendor Verification testing, with Alcatel and Siemens equipment. I performed commissioning and operated one third of the network with connections to 33 local exchanges (and the Ericsson IP Telephony Server as a class 5 VoIP switch) as the first phase in the migration process.I was also involved in the NGN project based on Huawei equipment (as a Class 4 IP Telephony Switch) until I left Telecom Egypt. That project served 10,000 PSTN and 10,000 DSL subscribers.

I have done the commissioning of several major PSTN Switches. These include a Multimedia Switch hosting 16,000 subscribers, a Classical Switch hosting 8,000 subscribers and four smaller remote switches hosting 2000 subscribers each. Performing this job for Telecom Egypt, I acquired extensive experience in the installation, configuration and commissioning of PSTN Switches.
