In my role as Senior Director of Programs, I lead a three-person team comprised of a program manager, program coordinator, and training coordinator. I lead a wider team of 16 with three additional direct reports as Interim Executive Director to improve utilization of vital records/statistics for public health. I foster key relationships and handle negotiations regarding data use agreements with internal stakeholders and the CDC while developing and effectively managing a $6M budget. Some highlights include: ➥ Securing $1.5M in contract revenue and grant funding to subsidize membership dues, enhance the functionality of critical systems, and ensure the mission of effectively supporting all members.➥ Being regarded as a SME to advise external entities and educate/train members on a broad range of public health, vital records, and statistics-related programs, grants, and contracts while building relationships with potential funders.➥ Increasing operational efficiency and transforming struggling processes from a previous administration by assessing existing procedures and implementing change management protocols resulting in securing more funding and increasing member participation due to a significant increase in positive feedback.➥ Conceptualizing and spearheading a field services and data quality workshop for CDC professionals to present on vital records data quality and the opportunity for peer-to-peer suggestions/improvements, resulting in close to 100% response rate on follow-up evaluations yielding 4.6/5-star ratings.➥ Coordinating a security and identity conference to focus on the identity and security side of vital records for members and other identity monitoring entities, including passport offices and other identity partners. Presentations and discussions regarding security/fraud prevention and innovations in the realm of identity resulted in the conference surpassing attendance goals and receiving positive feedback.

Promoted to lead a team of 40 staff and directors across five cross-functional areas including registration, biostatistics, cancer registry, field services, and customer service, to ensure the integrity and protection of vital records registration, certification, and amendments and all information available for public research. I also provided statistical consultation to agency personnel and contract/data oversight for national and state agencies. Some notables include:➥ Successfully transforming an apathetic, low-collaboration work culture within the department by streamlining workflow, reorganizing processes, and meeting with each sub-group/team to provide a voice and assess feedback to remove silos and cultivate an empowered and supportive environment of teamwork.➥ Restructuring review processes as Chair of the DHEC Institutional Review Board by recruiting new committee members, establishing consistent meeting times, and developing standardized application processes, resulting in enhanced communications, more structured training and documentation processes, and better participation.➥ Improving security for issuing records by implementing safeguards to prevent misuse of certification paper.➥ Spearheading a major project to replace a twelve-year-old legacy system that would result in increased efficiency, improved reliability, and maximum security.➥ Acting as Principal Investigator for several CDC-funded surveillance programs including PRAMS, BRFSS, and EPHT.
